Same but different
As before, students write programs that allow pre-built robots perform their taks. But students spend less time putting robots on the floor and more time writing programs because these robots are more complex and often require the coordination of several moving parts. For example, the bar-code reader combines information from the light sensor and the rotation sensor to calculate the time it takes to read one digit.
Emerging language
Lego designed the EV3 robot to be programmable in Python.
Python is an established technology that is being used in a growing number of applications, including websites that speak to databases. As well as being exposed to another industry standard language, students learn that programming languages are very similar. The more you learn, the easier they become.
